Where to Vacation
Vermont is one of the most unique and interesting states in the Unites States. It has its own way of life and everything. There are a lot of towns that are known for their tourist attractions but are also a great place to live. After all, you cant have a tourist town without locals to tour! There is so much to do, but it is very different than what you think of when you think about tourist attractions. Vermont is mostly mountain terrain, so you get a lot of kayaking and hiking type activities. You can also find some great art. At a local farmers market you are likely to see a commission artist selling homemade giclee prints. Vermont is a great place to vacation no matter who you are.
One area I highly recommend visiting is Stowe, Vermont. It is relatively close to other interesting towns and is one of the most interesting towns in itself. It has tons of local flavors and is very hospitable to tourism. Tourism is what allows it to stay alive and prosper, so by visiting Stowe you would be putting food on someone’s table. There are lots of local inns and lodges that you can pick from. Almost all of them have some kind of pool and outdoor facility. You will be in the mountains, so you have lots of options to hike or go mountain biking.
If you aren’t very experienced with outdoor sports, don’t fret. Lots of first timers embrace the mountain activities while visiting the mountains in Vermont. If you go to a business that runs mountain biking, hiking, or kayaking excursions, they will make sure you are safe. All you need to be good at outdoor sports is the desire to participate in them. Hiking is generally not very hard to do; if you can walk you can hike. A lot of it may be uphill and some may be over rocks, so bad knees may not fare well. Mountain biking and kayaking are a little more unique, but very conquerable! Don’t let fear keep you from having a great time.
Another town that you should defiantly visit is Burlington, Vermont. Burlington is home to the University of Vermont and is one of the most eclectic college towns around. It is located right on the shore of Lake Champlain, so it is exceptionally beautiful. You can take a walk down to the shore or spend the day shopping. The place to shop in Burlington is a street called Church Street. It is blocked off from cars and is lined with awesome and unique shops and restaurants. If you are fun and funky, or just curious, Burlington is defiantly a place to visit.
Overall, You can’t go wrong by taking a vacation to Vermont. You will experience things that you cannot get in your own home town. You may be challenged to step out of your comfort zone while visiting, but it will only benefit you!
