Learning Czech Made Simple
The Czech language is not the type of language you usually hear during regular conversations, same as the people who use it as their mother tongue; but that is one thing that makes it unique and exotic at most.
The Czech language however is not merely about being exotic; the language itself can be proud of its etymology along with the culture and history where it is embedded. The Czech language is spoken by the people in the Czech Republic and it is one of the Balko-Slovak language family used in Eastern Europe. In fact it is highly intelligible in both written and spoken language together with Slovak language which is a concept called language diasystem. The language also has close resemblance to Polish and even Sorbian. However, its capital city Prague as well as its major cities use a different dialect.
The language has a colorful history as well.
It was only used in the 8th century as years before that the language has been looked down as the language of the peasantry. In fact, originally the language had been called Bohemian. If it wasn’t for their later on declared national hero named John Huss, the language would not be elevated to a higher position, as he has given it justice.
You might also be interested to know that the language has survived many influences. Given that the Czech Republic is right between strong countries such as Germany, Slovak Republic, Poland, and Austria, the language remained to be existing without diminishing its structure. That symbolizes a language of evolution and being rooted in history and culture. Wouldn’t you like to learn a language of that quality?
The language itself has contributed major words to the modern day English language.
Some of these words are pistol, howitzer, pram and the word robot. You might also be surprised that there are English words that are part of the Czech language but they have a different meaning. That makes it easy to learn the language although you do have to be more contextual when you are thinking of the right word usage.
It’s not only the language that makes the country be labeled as strong. It is a member of NATO and the European Union. The Czech Republic is also visible in the world’s affairs although it’s not a major player in the field.
While others say that it might be difficult to learn the language, it can’t be that nerve-wracking as compared to the heavy Rs of the Russian and German language. The language may be unique but it is closely related to the other European languages. This would surely blow away anyone who has deep interest in learning European languages and linguistics.
