I live near it, but it would be more helpful if you could state the place you plan to go. Or don’t you have any specific plans?
My general advice is, the farther you go into the Czech Republic, that means, Prague and its surroundings, the more likely you’ll meet people speaking English. In the areas just behind the border, German is the language of choice, as the Czech Republic borders to Germany. Euros are accepted as common currency near the border; the farther you travel into the country, Czech Crowns become more valuable.
If you come as a tourist, Prague is a must-see. It’s one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. As a matter of fact, I think it’s outstanding. But hotel prices in the center of Prague are a nightmare. Don’t even try to get a room. There’s private rental though (like the British “bed and breakfast”) which is way cheaper, but mostly located on the outskirts. You’ll find your way home with a good map of the town. Be aware that taxi drivers aren’t always honest.
