From what country are you?
If you want to study Polish, you can watch polish channel “TVP Polonia”.
There are lots of programs with english subtitles and you can listen and read.
It’s simple I know, but good for beginners. 🙂
What do you think? Answer below!
The best way to start is by studying basic grammar patterns and vocab, while at the same time, memorizing phrases that you KNOW you will need almost daily. (stuff like: Where’s the bathroom?; How much is this?, etc.).
In Czech, there are several sounds that do not exist in the English language, so getting those down correctly will be crucial. The best way is to hear a native say them and then have someone critique your own pronunciation.
Eventually, you’ll want to waster the different declension patterns in all seven cases. God luck with that one. Be patient. It takes time.
The most important thing is practice. It’s great to read a book and find out how this grammar principle works or how this word is used, but that only gives you a basic understanding. The actual utility comes through practice. You have to take the principles you’re learning and try to apply them. Be creative and create sentences from the words you know. Say it out loud, even if you’re just talking to yourself.
As a side note, learning Polish and Czech at the same time may prove tricky because they are so similar. Sometimes it gets hard to keep the two languages separate in your head.
